WHO WE ARE
Kimaru Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming indigenous knowledge, culture, and heritage into sustainable opportunities for communities across Uganda and Africa. We believe that culture is more than identity—it is a powerful resource for economic growth, education, community ownership, and long-term development.
Through cultural enterprise, skills training, education support, and community-led development, we empower youth and women to earn from traditional knowledge while preserving its meaning and value for future generations. Our work focuses on promoting indigenous cultures, strengthening livelihoods, protecting community ownership, and creating opportunities through cultural tourism, crafts, traditional foods, agriculture, music, and storytelling.
By connecting heritage with innovation, Kimaru Foundation is building a future where culture creates income, communities thrive, and Africa’s rich traditions remain alive, respected, and profitable for generations to come.
